Hanford Elementary has partnered with Big Smiles to offer in-school dental care.  Simply complete the permission form or go to www.myschooldentist.com to sign up your child.

There may be no cost to you if your child is insured with Medi-Cal.  Private insurance and self-pay options are also available.

Our in-school dental program saves you time and provides a safe and comfortable place for your child to receive gentle dental care from licensed, local professionals.  Dental care includes a complete dental exam, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride and sealants when necessary, and in some cases, restorative care such as fillings.

By having your child see the in-school dentist, you can help reduce the risk of:

  • Early tooth loss caused by dental decay
  • Gum disease
  • Heart disease
  • Impaired speech development

Taking care of your child's teeth is an important part of keeping them healthy.

Permission Form for service can be completed at www.myschooldentist.com

Principal's Message

Dear Washington Families:

I would like to officially welcome you to the new school year! My name is Lindsay Hastings and I am proud to serve as the Principal for Washington Elementary. Before we begin talking about this year, I wanted to take a moment to thank and commend you for your support over the past few years as we navigate our way through the COVID-19 Pandemic. I am in awe of the resiliency and strength of our Patriot community and I am so proud of you Patriots!  As we look forward to the start of the new year, please know that the health and safety of our students and families remains our top priority. In addition, we are committed to making this year a positive and memorable experience for you and your child. As we have seen time and time again over the last few years, we are all capable of overcoming challenges and accomplishing tasks that seem overwhelming at times. We want each of our Patriots to know that they are special and unique and can do anything they set their minds to!

As we work together towards the goal of having our students return safely school, we will continue to follow and implement the guidance set forth by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). More information regarding our COVID-19 protocols and daily screener for students will be sent home at the beginning of the year.

As you and your family prepare for the new school year and shop for school clothes, please consult the Hanford Elementary School District Dress and Grooming Board Policy in the Parent Handbook and Student Conduct Code. All students must comply with this policy which includes, but is not limited to: shoes must have a closed toe and closed heel (no sandals), shorts must reach midthigh, clothing must be free of inappropriate pictures/language, and no frayed or shredded shorts/pants.

Class lists will be posted outside the front office on Thursday August 4th after 4:30pm. The first day of school is Tuesday, August 9th beginning at 8:00am. Parents are welcome to walk their students to their classrooms on the first day and to their class lines. We will hold a Kinder Meet and Greet on August 8th from 3-4pm so our littlest Patriots have an opportunity to meet their teachers and see their new classrooms prior to the first day.

As the first day of in-person instruction approaches, please note that many procedures on campus have changed. When dropping-off and picking-up your students please make sure to use the gate that is assigned to them. The list of assigned gates is located on the next page.

We look forward to a promising school year and please know that your child is our top priority.  Developing an environment in which students feel safe is our number one goal. We have a very talented staff who are dedicated to teaching, challenging and nurturing your child.   We strive to make our school a fun learning environment. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance.  Your participation and feedback are crucial to our school wide improvement. I look forward to meeting you in the weeks to come!

Thank You,

Lindsay Hastings
Proud Patriot Principal
